Hear us on WDET!

December 23rd, 2011 by Brent

We are excited to announce that we will be featured on 101.9FM WDET‘s Craig Fahle show today between 10:00-11:13 AM. As we previously mentioned here (and on our twitter feed,) this past Monday afternoonwe traveled downtown to the WDET studios and sang three of our favorite contemporary holiday arrangements. Bronwen, Ben, Brent and Lindsey also sat down with Craig for a quick chat about the group, where we’ve been, and where we’re going.

If you miss the broadcast on 101.9 FM in Detroit, or are from out of the listening area, you can also catch us on the Craig Fahle Show podcast (rss link).

Quick News Catch-up

December 21st, 2011 by Brent

So… a lot of people have asked us “What happened to your Holiday Concert? Did I miss it??”

Truth be told, we decided to skip the holiday concert this year so that we could focus on rehearsing our new music and start doing some more studio recording. We had a blast recording our arrangement of “Boondocks” over the summer and just last week sent it off for professional mixing and are looking forward to hearing what comes back! Once completed, we’ll likely be offering it as a digital download through your favorite online music store, so stay tuned!

Meanwhile, we’ve still been doing holiday gigs – singing at the Mt. Clemens Tree Lighting, private parties, and door-to-door caroling in the Grosse Pointes last weekend. We also did some recording for our Public Radio Debut this past Monday, and we’ll have more on that in a couple days.

We are still planning our Spring Concert, though – that will be on Saturday, June 9th at Ridgedale Players (on Long Lake between I-75 and Livernois) and we will be spending the next few months putting together our Internet-themed show, which will be chock-full of memes, and a multimedia presentation or two. We’ll have more info on that as it draws closer.

In the meantime, we wish you and yours Happy Holidays, and we’ll see you next year!

It’s that time again…

November 29th, 2011 by Brent

…time for eggnog, chestnuts, sleigh bells, tinsel, holly, and four weeks of better-behaved children (maybe.) With the holiday season upon us, we’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy one, and let you know that if you live in the Grosse Pointe area, you might just see us making the rounds and bringing a little extra cheer to the evenings.

This is also a great time to bring us to your event, whether its a private party, a corporate event, or a community show, and let us provide some warmth and ambiance with our holiday caroling set. You can read more on our Holiday page, or just get in touch with us directly at 313-444-0296 or info@twoweeksnotice.net to see what we can offer you.

Meanwhile, we’re hard at work preparing for our early June concert and getting some more time in the studio, working towards our next EP. This time around, we’ll be bringing in some of the best production engineers the a cappella community has to offer, so it’s sure to be a record that we can be proud of, and that you’ll have on repeat all year-long. More information about that is to come…

We’ll also be updating our website, Facebook, and YouTube channels in the coming month with fresh photos and clips for you. Stay tuned as we ring in the latter half of our Fifth Anniversary year!

Singers Wanted!

August 30th, 2011 by Lindsey

We are looking for talented, committed singers and musicians who were in college groups, people who wanted to join one, but couldn’t fit it into their schedule, or anyone who wants to take part in a high-energy contemporary a cappella ensemble. We’re currently looking for Altos, Tenors and Basses.

As a member of Two Weeks Notice, you’ll find that it’s JUST like being on The Sing Off. . . with the notable absence of the sappy judges, post-show audio mixing and group video montages. Well, maybe the group montages.

Open auditions will be held on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Northwest Unitarian Universalist Church in Southfield. Bring a 60 second a cappella solo of a favorite rock, pop, jazz or r&b song, then be prepared to sight-read. The ability to read music is strongly recommended. Please contact us for more info you would like to schedule an audition. Additional audition times can be arranged if necessary.

What we did on our summer vacation

August 25th, 2011 by Brent

Summers off always bring changes, and this year has been no exception.

In sad news, we’ve had a few members step down this summer. Core members Jeff and Betsy chose to step down after our last concert to spend more time with their growing family. Jason has also left due to scheduling conflicts with his job and the need to take an extended vocal break, and Alan will go on hiatus due to the increasing demands of his job as a teacher.

In spite of that, we have been busy working on our first try at studio recording with our version of Little Big Town’s “Boondocks”! Most of us have taken our turn at the mic and Brent is busily editing and preparing the tracks for professional mixing. Once complete, we hope to release it as a digital download later this year.

Also, in happier news, we’re gearing up for our 5th Anniversary Season! Lindsey and Laura have been working on some new arrangements that will give us a cleaner sound and we are preparing for Open Auditions and starting our rehearsals again on the evening of September 11th. We’ll post more about that soon, but pencil it in on your calendar now. If you can’t make it that evening, we’ll be rolling out a new video audition process on a rolling basis which we’ll also give you more information on soon.
