Christmas Season 2012: By the Numbers:
12 - The number of gigs we will have done.
38 – The number of hours spent singing for said gigs (Oh, we know).
45 – The approx. number of minutes it takes for us to sing through our christmas binder.
About 1,000,000 – Times we have sung through our binder (Hey, we’re music nerds not math geeks).
About 1,000,000,000 – Times we rehearsed measures 20-24 of “The Christmas Song”. (we still don’t get it)
4,200 – The number of pieces of Ghirardelli peppermint bark consumed by us.
42 – Collective weight gain from said bark. Delicious, delectable peppermint bark…(drool).
72 – Number of person-hours spent driving to and fro.
144 – Gallons of gas used while driving X 3.50/gallon =
504 - $$ spent on gas (except when it comes to $, then we’re brilliant mathematicians).
∞ – On a scale from 1-10, Janna’s festiveness.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Y’all!!
This has been our busiest holiday season, BY FAR. Check out our appearances page to see what we’ve been up to and where you may see us next!
Our newest single, Tik Tok, originally performed by Ke$ha, is slated for iTunes digital release on October 1st!
Check it out here or here along with our other track Boondocks which we released last summer.
Our auditions two weeks ago were very successful; you should have updates on our new members in the coming weeks. Even so, we are still looking for more male voices and a vocal percussionist (beat box-er). Consider rolling auditions for those voice parts officially OPEN! Please email info@twoweeksnotice.net to set up an audition time.
Last Sunday night’s rehearsal officially kicked off the new season! I was so great to be back together singing with everyone after a long summer break. I for one am excited about this winter semester. We met (then exceeded!) our Kickstarter goal last spring which means we can move forward with our recording plans. We’re also working on some new arrangements for our holiday repertoire, and getting ready for a busy holiday season. Stay tuned!
We are looking for talented, committed singers and musicians who were in college groups, people who wanted to join one, but couldn’t fit it into their schedule, or anyone who wants to take part in a high-energy contemporary a cappella ensemble.
We are looking for all voice parts (SATB) including Vocal Percussion who can rock-out and have fun!
Open auditions will be held on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 6:00 p.m. at Juliana’s Academy of Dance in Madison Heights (32270 North Campbell Road Madison Heights, MI 48071). Bring a 60 second a cappella solo of a favorite rock, pop, jazz or r&b song, then be prepared to sight-read. The ability to read music is strongly recommended. Please contact us for more info you would like to schedule an audition. Additional audition times can be arranged if necessary.
Email us to find out more!
Yup, it’s that time again! Each year will look at our membership and determine what voice parts are need to fill out the 2WN sound. This is an exciting year for those of you waiting for your chance in the 2WN spotlight…we need a little of ALL voice parts.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for talented, committed singers and musicians who were in college groups, people who wanted to join one, but couldn’t fit it into their schedule, or anyone who wants to take part in a high-energy contemporary a cappella ensemble. We’re currently looking for Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, Basses and Vocal Percussionists.
We are looking for singers with:
A great solo voice
A love of a cappella music
The ability to hold your own ensemble part
The desire and skill to blend well with other singers
Can you:
Read music (or learn your parts quickly if your sight-reading isn’t perfect)
Memorize and retain your part
Commit to weekly (sunday night) rehearsals (in Royal Oak)
Work on your music individually for a few hours each week
Audition Process
Round One: Solo Video Make a video of yourself singing a song a cappella that really shows off your voice. Choose a pop, rock, standard or R&B song of your choice and kill it. Post it on YouTube or Vimeo or livestream, or any other video sharing site of your choice and send us a link to it at info@twoweeksnotice.net
Round Two: Callbacks/Group Sing Auditionees who pass the first round will be contacted to chat with one or more of the current membership and arrange a callback time. Callbacks will be located in/around Royal Oak, MI. At this time, we check your range, we may ask you to sing your solo in person and some sight-reading (part learning) with some of the voices of 2WN. We’ll provide further information about the group and answer any questions. This is the time we begin to determine if you this is a good for you and for us.
Round Three: Probationary Membership Auditionees who pass the first and second rounds will be invited to join 3 rehearsals with the whole group as an active member. At the end of the 3 week trial period (or anytime before) the current membership will determine if it’s a good fit…and so will you! Heck, we realize it has to be right for you too!
So that’s it. All you have to do right now is record a video and send it to us for round one….and everything else falls into place from there. We can’t wait to hear from you!
After our June 9th show began our traditional summer break. This summer we also said goodbye to three members.
Brent and Lindsey Chismark, the founders of Two Weeks Notice, have started a new and excited adventure and therefore have had to take their final bow with us. There are not words to express how hard it has been to let them go. We would not be where we are as a group today without their love for a cappella as well as their drive and expertise which led us to the most successful season ever! I look forward to many more years of friendship as they continue on in their personal and a cappella lives.
Additionally, we say goodbye to Nicole Bouman. While she has been busy brewing her first child, her spunk, wicked good beats and hiccups will be missed at every rehearsal.
To Brent, Lindsey and Nicole – Thank you for all the great times and all the best to your and your families. We already miss you.
